I need to find out how long it would take me to go to a place with a mountain bike, and what is the average speed of a mountain bike that isn’t going it’s max speed, but going from one place to another without rushing, but not going so slow that that a person running cant catch up?
that will depend on how hard you push yourself and the terrain.
i personally usually go about 6-10 MPH on average whenever i go for longer bike rides.
if you are going to be riding this distance constantly i might recommend getting a road bike it will allow you to go faster and make your trip easier
depends what speed youre going
About 3-5 mph
depends, are u on roads or cutting through the woods?
Gotta say this is a ridiculous question way to many variables do people think before they ask ???? I would say it depends on the air pressure in your head to check this feel around for a valve stem at the back of your head and use a quality tire guage.
The answer to this question depends almost entirely on the rider. I have gone over 25 miles per hour on my mountain bike, but I generally cruise at about 13-15. If you want someone running to be able to catch up, then the answer is however fast that person can run (or wants to run).
Additionally, there are big differences depending on the terrain, the slope, the weather, etc. At one point I competed in an adventure race, where one person in a two person team was on a mountain bike, and the other was on foot. The two people could not get more than 10 feet away from each other or they would be disqualified. This went on for about 2 miles, so the average speed was about 5-6 mph. That makes for 10-12 minute miles on rough terrain, through the woods and occassional mud. If this were on a nice flat straight trail, and the runner was fit, the speed would probably be about 10-12 mph, allowing the runner to do 5-6 minute miles.
Hope this helps.
it mostly depends on the gearing of the bike. i can keep steady on my bike at 20-25mph, on flat ground just cruising. runners wont catch up because they run at around 10mph, 15max. going down a hill though i usually catch around 30-35mph, but i have had speeds up to 43mph! yes, a mountain bike, and its a tricked out schwinn that was originally $200.
im no good at math so i cant tell you a formula for figuring out how long it will take to get from point A to point B.
