im planning on getting a new mountain bike, im new to the whole mountain biking thing. i have a regular one from walmart. but i want a new one and i need to know, what should i look for when getting a mountain bike, also does that back shock really make a difference?
I have always been buying the walmart bikes and they have always sucked. I saw a mountain bike that I liked at dicks. Are there any good brands I should or should not look into? I hear diamond back is pretty good. I don’t really want to pay more then 0. Is dicks good to buy from?

runners, not slicks. my bad! runners, the cover you buy to go over knobbies to turn knobbies INTO slicks. how do you put those on?

I’m thinking about buying a bike at walmart to ride to work (I only live a mile away) and to do cardio on when I’m not running. Should I get a mountain bike or a street bike? Why is one better than the other?
Workout: Paved road, maybe a badly paved road now and again. At LEAST 10 miles a week.
If I sound ignorant, it’s because I am. Give me a break.
Want to just spend 0 on a bike for fun. Since I am a heavy guy (240 lb), I want a bike that can handle me. I called both bike manufacturers and they say their bikes can support me regardless of the material.
Should I get the
1) Mongoose with all aluminum frame?

or
2) A "Next" bike with steel frame?

I just bought a mountain bike from a second hand store. It is a 26" NEXT mens dual suspension bike looks like from walmart like new!! The back brakes rub really bad. I have been looking all over the net trying to find a site that shows how to fix these brakes but have had no luck. This has to be a bike that alot of ppl have. Anyone know? Or anyone have the manufacturer website? Looks like someone scratched off all the stickers on the bike I have and put their own on.
Hey guys,
I’m almost 14 and I love cycling-I started biking just to high school on a cheap Walmart mountain bike a month ago. I found out that I loved to bike to school and joined the school biking club. I loved the first ride, and I thought that maybe I should go a little more into cycling, like maybe racing a bit, or just going plain faster…
The problem: My bike is a dual-suspension mountain bike (24" wheels) that I got only for the looks (average ~12 mph-and I’m a good rider) …Yes, 24" wheels, although I can ride 26" fine.
I thought that I might want a cheap (as in 200-250 bucks) road bike or a hybrid so I can go faster, hopefully close to 20 mph…
I checked out a schwinn avenue (224 bucks) but the 700c tires are HUGE, and i simply cannot get on. Is there a hybrid/road bike thats somewhere around 26" (600c? 650c?) that anyone knows about? Around 200-250 dollars?
thx in advance
