I’m interested in downhill mountain biking and I need a new bike. I’m thinking of getting a downhill. I know there heavy and made to go downhill but will I have trouble using it to just go regular trail riding. Particularly I’m worried about the climbing. Besides that ,I think I would be good with a downhill bike because I want to do some downhill but not just downhill.
I recently brought a new bike- a dual suspension silver fox orb with disk breaks and All is good and i love the bike except one problem..its just started squeaking and creaking like mad!!! i think its coming from the rear suspension but not sure and despite a lot of ppl having the same probs and asking here i’m not finding anything useful.(oil/don’t oil, one says one thing then another says different) I had it serviced the other day and the only probs then they sorted was rubbing breaks. The squeak problem started mildly on my first ride and now its getting worse.
When i stand on the bike and bounce- is when it makes the noises, and i’ve repeatedly oiled it with WD40, even bouncing/oiling at the same time makes no effect. my last bike was the same on and off but not this bad. pllleeeeaaase help someone
I understand that you have to pay more for better quality but for some like me and others money is an issue so i dont need telling to buy a more expensive bike otherwise i’d ask for suggestions on which bike to buy. i brought a cheap bike just to commute to and from work i’m not a keen cyclist nor have knowledge of repairs ect.. all i want to know is it fixable at all? thanks for saying DW40 is a big no no i’ll bear that in mind!!

I was planning to buy a new bike and I don’t know to get a BMX bike or mountain bike.
I want to purchase a mountain bike for around 0 dollars. I ride in the evening on the street with my little boy and need a new bike. I have found Mongoose and Schwinn’s but do not know which would be best? I am 6’3 and 220 pounds so I need a good sturdy one, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I’m looking at buying a new bike, preferably for 0 or less. I want to ride on the streets but also mountain bike. I found a couple of bikes on Giant’s website, the Sedona and the Roam-2011, would these be good bikes? I am a beginner and would appreciate any feedback on this since my bike store only tells me that the most expensive thing is the best thing.

I am trying to buy a new bike and can’t decide what to get. I haven’t owned a bike in many years and have no idea what is good and what would suit my needs. I have it down to 5 choices. Three are from SportChek and 2 from a local bike shop. The three from SportChek are:
Nakamura Monster9.9

Reebok Oregon Pro
http://www.sportchek.ca/sportchek/do/style?menuId=61&styleId=55005
Iron Horse Sage
Can’t find a page for it, but it’s in the store for 0 Cad.
The two from the local shop are:
Louis Garneau Cityzen 100 (0 Cad)

Specialized Hardrock (0 Cad)

I will be using it mostly for paved roads/paths and gravel roads. I do live in an area that is within short driving distance to some nice mountain/hill trails so I wouldn’t mind having a bike that could handle that if I ever decide to try it.
Out of the bikes listed, I am very unsure of what to do. The Nakamura bike looks cool and would be a cheap way to try out a dual suspension bike, but is it too cheap of a bike and is the dual suspension even needed for my intended riding? The Reebok bike seems pretty nice as it has the quick trigger shifters and disc brakes. The Iron Horse bike also seems nice, but it is more of a hybrid than a mountain bike so I am not sure if it will suit my needs for possible mountain trail stuff. The Louis Garneau bike felt like a very nice bike, but it doesn’t have any front suspension or disc brakes. Finally, the Specialized bike looks pretty good I have read some good stuff about their bikes.
Out of the 5 listed bikes, which seems like a good one for me? The bikes at SportChek seem to have more features for the amount of money as compared to the ones from the local bike shop. However, I am sure the bikes from the local store are made with better quality parts and I would get better service/fitting there. Is it worth it to pay the little extra at the bike shop, or would the bikes at SportChek be better for me? Thanks.

I am considering buying a new bike. I have a budget of about 200 or so. The bike is going to be used mostly on light trails once a week or so. The two I am considering are
Mongoose XR250
•Frame type: 4-bar dual suspension mountain bike frame
•Frame materials: Lightweight aluminum
•Suspension type: ZOOM suspension fork
•Gearing/Shifters: 21-speed Shimano drivetrain, Easy Fire shifters
•Brakes: Front ProMax disc brake, rear alloy linear pull brake
•Tires: Mongoose R4674WM tires
•Wheels: AERO paired spoke deep dish alloy wheels
•Weight: 42lbs.
Polaris RMK
•Alloy / steel suspension frame
•Single crown front suspension, 65 mm travel
•Rear suspension coil-over, 750 lbs.
•26 x 1 15/16" all-terrain tires, alloy Double Wall wheels
•7-speed Shimano SRAM MRX twist shift
•Shimano "Tourney" front / rear derailleur
•Comfy MTB saddle
•Carmine / black.
•19” frame
What is your opinion? I’m 6’ 175lbs and 25 years old
the RMK also has
Front Brake: Disc
Rear Brake: V-Brake
like a trek 3500 with a fork with less range and exactly same Shimano drivetrain and Shimano derailleurs as the RMK. At 400 dollars.
