Right now I’m using a hardtail to go down my local mountain bike park, which is thrashing my bike and every time I get home I have a flat tire, most of the times on the rear. I was thinking a good full suspension mountain bike could fix this. Now I won’t be entering any competitions yet, but I am starting to get more serious on my bike, would that be a good deal?

I am looking for a place where I can find fairly cheap mountain bikes. They don’t have to be the best of the best, but good enough that I can put some decent mileage on them.

There are loose ball bearings in the freewheel part of a mountain bike. Does anyone know how many go in there? I disassembled 2 mountain bikes to make an electric bike. Now i am putting one back together and i have 2 sets but i lost some from each set and it leaves me with no clue. These are the bearing underneath the shimano freewheel locking nut… the bearing are loose under there. Thank you!

What sets them apart? Do they have stronger rims because of jumps off stairs etc. I’m also thinking of getting one so if anyone has links that would be great.

p.s. -Do urban mountain bikes handle trails well?

Not so much a question as a comment I’m hoping many will read & understand. As I weaved my way through the streets of downtown St. Louis this morning, on my way to the Riverfront Trail, I passed a much younger man on what appeared to be a high end Kona dual suspension bike. Well…passed is really the wrong word. More like sucked his doors off – if he had doors. He caught me at the next red light and said something to effect of, "Man – how do you do that? I’m pedaling my a** off couldn’t keep up."

The light turned green & I just left him there wondering. I didn’t have time to tell him his seat height was way too low, he was in the wrong gear (pedaling much too fast for level city streets) but most of all – it’s a mountain bike in the city!

If there is a question here – it’s this…"What good is a ,000 dual suspension mountain bike in the city if an old fat man with arthritis in the back & knees can blow you away on a hybrid that cost much less?" Know in advance where & how you will riding. Mountain bikes may look cool, but what good are they in the city?

I have an old Magna Equator (which I later found out was put on recall in 2000, the same year I bought it) and need a newer, better bike.
