What's a good Hardtail bike?

Thank you guys for answering my previous question, I decided to go with a hardtail as opposed to a dual suspension, mainly because of budget. Can you recommend some bikes worth looking into that offer light weight, great control, etc. I’m not sure what specs to really look for, if someone can help me find a bike to buy I would greatly appreciate it.

I am willing to spend 0-0 for a decent bike that I begin this new hobby. I’m into extreme sports so this is my new challenge for 2011. I’m really pumped to get started on some trails!

Thanks in advance

Decision between mtn. bikes from trek, kona, or specialized… any input?

So, heres my ordeal. I am looking for a good, reliable, tough, lightweight bike. I’m looking between 3 in particular (all are the cheapest i could find due to very limited budget). Btw, yes, i need dual suspension. so:

Bike 1: Im leaning more toward this one because its 300$ cheaper than the others
the Kona Tanuki 2011

Bike 2:
The trek fuel EX5

Bike3:
The Specialized Camber comp.

I would like to know what one is the best for pretty heavy trail riding (uphill and down), which means reliability, above all else. Im not going to be doing 10ft jumps. More like 3-4ft jumps.

Thanks for any advice!

New mountain biker, looking for a bike?

I’m into extreme sports and mountain biking is about to become my new hobby with months of practice…What bike can you recommend for someone who wants to tear up some trails. I need something light weight, dual suspension, etc. To be honest, I do not know much about this so any advise would be great.

My spending limit is about 0-0 since I’m just a beginner…cheaper is always better though.
Thanks in advance!

I need help choosing a bike…….?

So I went to the store a couple days ago and saw these two bikes, I liked em both, but need help choosing one…………Next or Mongoose?

Next bike has: Dual suspension rugged steel frame, front and rear v brakes, quick release seat/alloy rims, a full sespension frame and 18 speeds with switch shifting

Mongoose bike has: full suspension aluminum main frame and suspension fork maximizes comfort and performance, 21 speed Shimano rear Derailluer with SHRAM grip shifts for precise shifting, front disc brake provides all condition stopping power and alloy rims that are light weight and durable.
I already own a Surly 1×1 that weighs less than 26 pounds so getting a heavy bike isn’t even a problem, its just to keep in the garage for a visitor that likes biking

whats is a good upgrade mountainbike shock?

i have a 2008 giant yukon fx dual suspension. i have four inches of travel in the back and im not sure what a good shock that would fit would be. hit me up

What is the best mountain bike between £500 and £700?

I am looking for something with more than a 100mm travel fork but am open to both hardtails and dual suspension. I have looked at the carrera banshee and the gt aggressor xc1 which are both very tempting but I was wondering if there were any better options? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Do you think this is a good deal for a bike?

http://answers.canadiantire.ca/answers/9045/product/0711637P/no-kranked-silver-mountain-bike-questions-answers/questions.htm

My bike is similar to this one. It’s made by Kranked. It’s got thick 26" tires (I think they’re 2.10"), disc brakes, dual suspension and 24 speeds (the one from the webpage only has 7).

The only issues I have with my bike is the back tire. The bearings are slightly loose so the tire rubs against the forks every time I pedal (seems to me that the chain pulls the tire to the side so it rubs). The gears shift good except when I shift into 1st gear. Sometimes the cable will jam and I’ll be stuck on first gear unless I shift up a few gears and wiggle the derailleur so it moves over to the corresponding gear. I have to keep the left gear shift on the 2nd ring if I want to shift the right gear shift into 1 or 2. So typically I have to keep the gear shifts on 2/3 (left shift on 2, right shift on 3).

If I shift into 1/1 (first ring, first gear) the chain will lock up the back tire since it gets caught in between the fork and the tire. I can keep the gears shifted on the first ring as long as the right shift is on 3 or higher.

Other than that, I use the bike to get to and from school and to and from work. The disc brakes are great, and have a lot of stopping power (if you want to call it that lol).

So now my question is, do you think this bike was worth the I paid for it? Or do you think this was a good deal? Because the bike works great if I keep it the gears shifted on 2/3 (remember, second ring, third gear) and other than the tire rubbing (it can be fixed by replacing the rim) there’s nothing wrong with it. The bike is in really good condition.
