Hi the Gear Shifter on my Mountain bike doesnt work, whenever i go to change gear it doesnt stay on the gear i put it to it slides back down to gear 6 . So if i put it on gear 4 for instance it doesnt click into place and stay there unless I hold it. Hope that makes sense. How would I fix this ?

i wand a downhill mtn bike with dual suspension in the medium travel range (4-6 inches) and for it to be under £450. Is the saracen raw three the best.

I want a bike that I can actually use for transportation. My road bike is very light and 3-4 mph faster, but my mountain bike already has flat handlebars, sturdier, and has disk brakes. …but converting the mountain bike makes it worthless in the dirt since switching out rims is not easy with my bike (Cannondale Lefty Fork).
Additionally, I would like to keep the mountain bike ready for daily dirt riding w/o switching out tires constantly.

Bomber – Suspension Test 3 – need bigger jumps

I have a 98 Trek 7000 Mountain bike with full Deore XT, Ti liberator saddle, USE shokpost, Judy XC fork with "air ride" internals, Mavic 217 rims and Bontrager Crowbar with Icon stem, and Time ATAC pedals. It’s very tricked out but so old! Frame is clean with few if any scratches. I’d say it was worth 0.00 new and all the upgrades pushes that up way past a grand, but I know an old bike is hard to ditch. Any ideas on what I should ask for the bike?
The components are in great shape too, they are built to take abuse and the bike really wasn’t ridden that hard. Thanks for all your responses!

I’m looking to buy a couple of inexpensive but durable mountain bikes. I read the answers about what people recommend, but in my price range (0) I only seem to find GMC and Mongoose bikes, with disk brakes and in some cases dual suspension. Are these good enough for moderate trail riding?

Would like to know the best Mountain Bike trails in the Washington DC area. If possible more on the Northern Virginia side, as I am in Arlington. I have a Specialized Epic and these sidewalk trails are getting boring. Also if you would like to ride, im me, bvk15 on yahoo im.
