Mtb dual suspension frame wanted.?

I know that i can purchase one online, on Ebay. Tried it and failed. Not a great negotiater, thats why i am asking for your help to find a dual suspension xc mtb frame from a retailer who sells frame only and not the complete bike. Prefer a Specialized Stumpjumper, Jamis Dakar series, Trek. Anyone know of such a place. Tried JensonUSA, Pricepoint, Performance, BeyondBikes, and other major bike retailers. Any local shops that have web page to order from? Would realy appreciate it. I currently ride a GT I drive XCR400, outdated, but have new components. Just need a newer frame, you know? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Jenson and Pricepoint have all kinds of frames….you didn’t see one that you liked? I just bought an Intense 5.5 frame from Jenson a few weeks ago. Their selection is a little low right now but in a couple months you should see it bump up as old-stock inventories get liquidated to the market. Seems like November through February there are lots of new closeout frames available for sale. Jenson has the hookup with Jamis and man they really blow them out of there when they have them.

http://www.wheelworld.com is another good one and http://www.bobs-bicycles.com is another. Jenson usually has the best deals before anyone else, but only with a few brands it seems. http://www.ride-this.com , http://www.beyondbikes.com , and http://www.cambriabike.com also do frames and I’d consider buying from them in that order.

You’re not going to find a Specialized or Trek frame (or bike) for sale on the web unless it’s used from a private party. Also, most shops are bound by contract that they can’t ship you a bike over the phone….you have to be there in the store, or at least be there to pay for it in person and then they can ship it. As said above, just about every manufacturer will sell framesets of the models they have…if it’s not listed in their catalog just ask the shop. It may have a different color and you may be limited in choices, but they all do it. Your local dealer can set you up with it. Your shop probably also has access to a few of the major bike parts distributors, so ask to look at their catalogs and see what they can get. This time of year there are lots of out-of-stocks and you may have to wait for an ’09 frame to arrive instead….bear that in mind.

If you’re interested, I have an ’06 Trek Fuel EX9 frame that I need to find a home for. It’s a Large (5’10" to 6’1" is about right for it) and has the carbon fiber rear end…..your choice of an MC3 (stock) or Swinger 3-way rear shock (4" travel on the bike). It has a scratch in the top tube (cosmetic) and some chain-suck wear, but that bike only got probably 300 miles on it altogether, honestly. The Intense replaced it. Here’s a pic of what the frame looks like new….shoot me a msg if’n ya want. http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/2006/archive/fuelex9

The ’08 and newer Fuel EX’s are nicer bikes (totally different linkage design) but the older ones are still pretty good. If you have lots of rough downhill corners, I’d get the newer version or a different type of frame. For most xc trails the older ones do just great, though.

Sorry, long post….hope it helps you out some. :o )

Most of the retailers will sell just the frame.
