Is it possible to put a lawn mower engine on a mountain bike?

I have a 26 inch mountain bike and was wondering if you can put a Honda GCV 160 lawn mower engine on it. P.S. it is 160cc

do you really want to ruin a MTB by adding over 30 pounds to it and making it really unsafe to ride? where will you put the gas tank? where will you mount the motor?

Yes tie it to the handlebars. (duct tape may work too.)

Probably, but you’d end up with a bike that would be a pain to ride and wouldn’t be street legal.

    Hi yes you can
I am not sure how street legal it is… what you d is you put it on the back. You have to fix a belt front the egine to the real wheel .. Or you fit a solid wheel to the drive shaft of the engine and havint running in contact with the tire of the bike. Your problem is controlling the power. you need to rig it so that the whel on the mover can be lifted off the tire..
Basically it can be done but the motor is heavy and difficult to control. There are some smaller versions on line made from weed wacker engines. easy to fit and easy to control.

You can do anything with enough engineering skill. I wouldn’t even try it though. My friend put a weed eater motor on his. It’ll do 25mph and gets around 200 miles per gallon. It comes in a fairly cheap kit. I’ll show you pics of it if you want to e mail me. I’ll even find the link to the web site and give it to you.
