The 5.5 is NOT considered a mountain bike… it is an all-terrain bike. This means it is for on road, and offroad on trails with stuff up to- say- baby head sized boulders and rain ruts.
It will handle jumps for awhile but you will end up destroying the bike bit by bit. Remember, just like any other bike the warranty only covers defects due to materials and workmanship NOT due to damage caused by riding.
The Maverick 5.5 was made especially for Performance Cycle, so you won’t see it available anywhere but there. I am pretty sure it was based on the Maverick 5.0.
Well my view is that if you are landing sweet that is the main thing, let the shocks do thier job up the front, i prefer a small hardtial for jumping a full susser is a big effort if your doing a long sesh. I have snapped countless things jumping including handlebars and a bottom bracket, never done a frame yet though. Its a dangerous sport but thats what makes it fun.
