I need new gears on a Mongoose mountain bike. It’s about 13 years old. Just wondering if anyone knows about what it would cost to get new gears or fix the gears. Wondering if I should just buy a new bike instead.

Well, i am not a bike enthusiast but i am interested in buying a bike. Use it often.I was inclined to buy a mountain bike with dual suspension.I have seen bikes at regular malls like Walmart. I am not able to decide on what kind to buy, a front suspension or dual suspension. I just want to ride it with comfort and a bit of speed perhaps!!

Its a Schwinn Mountain bike(teal in color). It was purchased brand new in 1993, its been in the garage and basement for most of its life. Its still in very good shape.

Dual suspension. I just want to know I got it for , but I want to know how much it retails for?
What does he mean I don’t have a real full suspension bike? I do have a Mongoose..I’m thinking that I got a really expensive bike for next to nothing. Or does everyone think I have junk? It’s a Mongoose DXR Aluminum.

I am an average novice bike rider. I want to know what I need to do to start training and eventually compete in mountain bike races. What kind of training and diet regiment should I follow? What kind of bike and helmet should I get? How do I even get into a race? I am looking for anyone who has experience in the sport who might be able to help an upstart wannabe racer make his dreams come true.
