Can you add a motor to a mountain bike?

I want to buy a 80cc engine but not sure if it can fit on my GT Avalanche 1.0. Is it possible to add an engine to a mountain bike and is it hard to put the engine together?

The best thing to do is get a motor kit that has every thing you need. Check with your states laws regarding motorized bikes or mopeds first. The laws vary from state to state on the displacement and max speed allowed to be used on the road. A 80 motor may not be legal in some states.

    Just get a YZ85, KX85 or RM85

You can add an engine to any bicycle but it’s usually not practical.
As well as the engine you would need an exhaust, electrics and some kind of frame to hold the engine. That’s a lot of extra weight and bulk.

you can get a motor to fit alot of bikes. Generaly its a kit you have to buy that is put on. Most people put them on hybrid bikes, but you would have to find an engin kit that would fit ur avalanch. I wouldent use it on the trails though, those things arend strong enough and geared low enough, because they hook up directly to your rear wheel and avoid the gears
